Bees are one of the most important organisms in the pollination of Colombian ecosystems;
however, the indiscriminate use of pesticides in monocultures contributes to bee colony
collapse syndrome (HCS). In this sense, an in vitro study was carried out with bees of the
species Apis mellifera, in the laboratories of the University of Cundinamarca, evaluating
different sublethal doses (LD50) of insecticides from the group of neocotinoids
(Imidachlorprid) and organophosphates (Chlorpyrifos). In order to find biochemical changes
in antioxidant enzymes such as catalase (CAT) and peroxidase (POD), involved in metabolic
mechanisms of detoxification, bees are exposed dermally to LD50, determining their
enzymatic activity and their concentration of total grains ([PT]).
The results obtained indicate highly significant statistical differences (p<0.005) in the activity
of CAT and POD between the control treatment and the insecticides Imidacloprid and
Chlorpyrifos. The behavior of CAT and POD activity between doses of significant changes
presented in the DL50. The [PT] statistically showed a duality between the values of
Imidacloprid and Chlorpyrifos, finding a significant difference in the protein expression of
each insecticide; however, no statistical differences were found between the LD50 applied.
From these results, stressful effects on the metabolism of Apis mellifera bees were
evidenced, verifying the cellular damage caused by using highly toxic insecticides and their
affectation in pollinating insects. | spa |
