PRODUCCIÓN Y CALIDAD NUTRICIONAL DE CUATRO VARIEDADES DE AVENA FORRAJERA (Avena sativa L) EN LA UNIDAD AGROAMBIENTAL “EL TÍBAR” DEL MUNICIPIO DE UBATÉ CUNDINAMARCA
Abstract
SUMMARY The primary objective of the present study was to evaluate the production and nutritional quality of four varieties of forage oats (Cayuse, Supreme, Ever Leaf and Konan) and their behavior in two sowing periods (lower and higher rainfall). The design of the experiments was a random complete block, with four replicates per variety (16 experimental units per period). In the crop, information’s such as: plant height (cm), green forage production in kg/m2 and days to harvest in the milky grain state were collected and described. In the laboratory, relevant data as the percentages of the following components were collected: total protein (TP), dry matter (MS), ether extract (EE), ashes (C), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), acid detergent fiber (FDA), organic matter ( OM), gross energy (GE) in kcal/kg, dry matter degradability (DEGR.MS), total protein degradability (DEGR.PT) neutral detergent fiber degradability (DEGR.FDN), finally the statistical program used in this project was Statistical Analysis System (SAS). Significant differences (p≤0.05) were found between treatments (varieties) and between planting periods for most of the variables evaluated; In 2018 (a year with greater rainfall) there was a greater amount of green forage production (4.3 kg/m2) and NDF percentage (68.7%) with the Cayuse variety, the best index in terms of protein percentage (11, 32%) occurred in 2019 (a year with less rain than 2018) with this same sort of oat. The highest percentage of DM occurred in 2019 with the Ever Leaf variety (40.8%), the percentages of degradability were higher in this same year. The varieties did not exceed the parameters estimated by the commercial house, therefore it is suggested to carry out a bromatological test on the varieties they use, since the nutritional composition depends on the type of variety and the environment conditions such as the rainfalls. The following license files are associated with this item:
