Uso de duolingo para el fortalecimiento de las habilidades receptivas del idioma inglés

Abstract

El trabajo investigativo que se realizó con los estudiantes fue de tipo cualitativo, debido a la descripción de fenómenos y de sus características, que se fueron evidenciando durante el proceso investigativo ya que se quiso propiciar una metodología que facilitara comprender la experiencia adquirida desde diferentes perspectivas y desde distintos puntos de vista de personas que hicieron parte del trabajo de investigación. Además, se tomaron en cuenta datos cuantitativos que permitieron realizar descripciones cualitativas con mayor precisión. Los resultados obtenidos en esta investigación, demuestran que Duolingo influyó de manera positiva en el fortalecimiento de las habilidades receptivas (leer y escuchar). Por otra parte, se logró identificar que, a mayor número de horas dedicadas al trabajo en esta plataforma, mayor es el nivel de alfabetización, es decir que los estudiantes pueden mejorar su nivel de inglés con esta plataforma. Esto se logró evidenciar en los resultados de los tests aplicados y, por lo tanto, la institución debería optar por implementar en sus horas de clases, herramientas que involucren las TIC (Duolingo) como estrategias que ayuden a incrementar el nivel de inglés como lengua extranjera en sus estudiantes. Abstract The research analyzed the impact that the Duolingo platform has on the strengthening of the receptive abilities of English in the students of the fifth grade of the Andrés Bello School of Girardot during the first academic term of the year 2019. The research work carried out with the students was a qualitative nature, due to the description of phenomena and their characteristics that have been evidenced during the investigative process. In addition, we have taken into account quantitative data be able to perform the qualitative descriptions with greater precision. The results in this research, the results obtained in the development of receptive skills (reading and listening). On the other hand, the greater number of hours dedicated to work on this platform, the higher the level of literacy acquired by students. This is evident in the results of the exams applied and both in the institution and in the option to implement in the hours of classes, tools that involve ICT (Duolingo) as strategies that help to increase motivation and the level of English in their students.
