The present study analyzed the physiological and metabolic behavior of Colombian Creole horses, orally supplemented with 1,2,3 propanetriol, the experiment was carried out in the “El chalán” kennel located in the municipality of Fusagasugá Cundinamarca. The horses were distributed by means of a completely randomized block design (DBCA), with sex as a blocking factor and four doses of 1,2,3- propanetriol five minutes before the equine was exposed to exercise, eight treatments were worked, two replicates per treatment, one equine for each replication, for a total of 16 experimental subjects. Before and after the addition of 1,2,3-propanetriol, environmental parameters were measured: relative humidity (%), temperature (° C) and carbon dioxide CO2 (ppm), physiological constants: heart rate, respiratory rate and basal temperature. In the blood samples, metabolic profile indicators were analyzed: total protein, glucose, BUN, pH and Superoxide Dismutase (SODx); The data were subjected to the two-factor ANAVA with one and several samples per group, Duncan's test, Shapiro Wilks test, and Kruskal Wallis test, they were correlated by means of Pearson's coefficient and Excel and INFOSTAT packages were used. No statistical differences were found in the supply of 1,2,3 propanetriol in different amounts with the enzymatic and protein profile (P> 0.050), in the case of individual conditions and metabolisms. Highly significant differences (P <0.010) were found in the supply of 1,2,3 propanetriol in relation to the increase in heart rate, respiratory rate, pH and glucose, these being a normal process by which the body undergoes to self-regulate due to physical effort, and glucose since it developed an optimal performance at the level of fast metabolism to achieve greater cellular and muscular energy performance for sports horses. | es_CO |
