Autoestima y apoyo social en adultos mayores que viven en contexto familiar del municipio de Funza, Cundinamarca

Abstract

El objetivo de esta investigación es correlacionar el índice de autoestima y de apoyo social de adultos mayores que viven con sus familias en el municipio de Funza, Cundinamarca. Para esto, se aplicaron las escalas de autoestima de Rosenberg y el cuestionario de apoyo social MOS a 117 adultos mayores, hombres y mujeres, entre los 60 y 90 años, algunos adscritos a la Secretaría de Desarrollo Social de dicho municipio. El estudio fue cuantitativo, no experimental, con un alcance correlacional. El análisis de resultados se realizó en SPSS y Excel y pudo evidenciarse que el índice de autoestima tuvo una media estimada de 31,27 y la de apoyo social fue de 73,98. Además, se identificó que el índice de autoestima y de apoyo social tiene medianas similares entre hombres y mujeres. Como conclusión, no se evidenció correlación entre el índice de autoestima y el de apoyo social.

This research searched to correlate the self-esteem index and social support among older adults living with their families in Funza, Cundinamarca. To achieve this, 117 older adults were asked to perform the Rosenberg self-esteem scale and the MOS social support questionnaire, both men and women, aged between 60 and 90 years. Some of them were affiliated with the municipality's social development department. The study was quantitative, non-experimental, with a correlational scope. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS and Excel, revealing that the estimated mean for self-esteem was 31.27, and for social support, it was 73.98. In addition, it was identified that both self-esteem and social support indices had similar medians among men and women. In conclusion, no correlation was found between the self-esteem index and the social support index.
