Historiografia del Hotel Tocarema.

Abstract

Este trabajo presenta un análisis historiográfico del Hotel Tocarema, ubicado en Girardot, como un referente del desarrollo turístico y económico local. La investigación surge ante la ausencia de un estudio detallado sobre su evolución organizacional, lo cual representa un vacío en la historiografía empresarial de la región. El objetivo principal fue identificar los aportes del hotel al desarrollo territorial del Alto Magdalena desde su fundación en 1965 hasta la actualidad, abordando aspectos de gestión, resiliencia organizacional y adaptación a contextos cambiantes. El estudio adoptó un enfoque cualitativo e histórico, basado en entrevistas semiestructuradas a directivos del hotel y en el análisis documental de archivos internos y externos. Se exploraron los modelos administrativos aplicados, los periodos de auge y crisis, y el contraste entre la memoria gerencial y las teorías administrativas clásicas, neoclásicas y contemporáneas. Los resultados evidencian una evolución gerencial desde estructuras jerárquicas hacia modelos colaborativos, con énfasis en la sostenibilidad, la innovación tecnológica y la formación de talento humano. También se identificaron contribuciones significativas al empleo, a la promoción turística y a eventos de impacto nacional. A pesar de enfrentar desafíos como crisis económicas y cambios en la demanda, el hotel ha mantenido una ocupación destacada y una imagen institucional sólida. En conclusión, el Hotel Tocarema constituye un caso ejemplar de adaptación empresarial y desarrollo regional. Este estudio aporta herramientas para futuras estrategias en el sector turístico y destaca la importancia de articular memoria gerencial, teoría administrativa y transformación digital para lograr sostenibilidad y competitividad. This study presents a historiographic analysis of the Hotel Tocarema, located in Girardot, as a key reference for local tourism and economic development. The research addresses the lack of detailed studies on its organizational evolution, which represents a gap in the business historiography of the region. The main objective was to identify the hotel’s contributions to the territorial development of Alto Magdalena from its founding in 1965 to the present, focusing on management practices, organizational resilience, and adaptation to changing contexts. The study employed a qualitative and historical approach, based on semi-structured interviews with the hotel’s management and document analysis of internal and external archives. It explored the administrative models implemented, periods of growth and crisis, and the relationship between managerial memory and classical, neoclassical, and contemporary administrative theories. The findings reveal a shift from hierarchical structures toward more collaborative models, with an emphasis on sustainability, technological innovation, and talent development. The hotel has made significant contributions to employment, tourism promotion, and nationally recognized events. Despite challenges such as economic crises and changing market demands, it has maintained high occupancy rates and a strong institutional image. In conclusion, Hotel Tocarema serves as a model of business adaptability and regional development. This study provides tools for future strategies in the tourism sector and highlights the importance of integrating managerial memory, administrative theory, and digital transformation to achieve sustainability and competitiveness.
