Abstract
Work stress and poor sleep quality accompany the workday and other spheres of daily life,
due to the overload of environmental demands, generating wear and tear on the body. This
study sought to determine the relationship between work stress and sleep quality of
university interns of the Psychology Program of the University of Cundinamarca, measuring
work stress through the stress questionnaire of the Battery of Instruments for the Evaluation
of Psychosocial Risk Factors, and Sleep Quality through the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index,
additionally, a sociodemographic profile designed by the researchers was implemented.
This is quantitative research with a correlational and cross-sectional scope. There was a
total sample of thirty-nine students, twenty-one from the eighth semester and eighteen of
ninth semester, belonging to the different formative fields offered by the University of
Cundinamarca.
It was found that 62% of the practitioners have extremely high stress and 72% had poor
sleep quality. As for the relationship between variables, a positive and significant correlation
was found (𝑟𝑥𝑦 = 0,318, 𝑝 = 0,048). Affirming with 95% confidence that while one variable
increases the other also increases, that is, the higher the score on the work stress scale, the
higher the score on the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. | spa |
