dc.description.abstract | RESUMEN
SUMMARY
The crop selected for the development of this project was the Zantedeschia aethiopica species
known as Calas, the flowers of this plant are a product that encompasses an important
production within the marketable ornamental species. However, this crop presents different
phytosanitary problems, among them the twisting of the leaves that causes a gradual
senescence in the flower and is caused by the presence of Frankliniella occidentalis thrips.
The direct damage caused by this thrips leads to non-compliance with the quality parameters
required for the commercialization of the flower at the national and international level. In
search of strategies to control this pest in the cultivation of calla lilies and to minimize the
economic impacts on the producer, the objective was to evaluate three control strategies
(chemical, plant extracts and ethological) of F. occientalis in the cultivation of calla lilies
outdoors. . The development of the study was carried out in the Marsella farm located in the
municipality of Chipaque Cundinamarca, in the cultivation of coves species Z. aethiopica in
which an experimental design DBCA (completely randomized block design) was
implemented with three repetitions and four treatments, being like this: the chemical control
where the application of the insecticide Acetamiprid was carried out: 240 g / kg + Emamectin
benzoate 50 g / kg with a dose of 0.3cc / liter, control with vegetable extracts based on garlic,
chili with the product known commercially as Aji ® Garlic Extract at a dose of 1cc / liter,
ethological control, the implementation of Ethological traps of 40 cm long x 25 cm wide and
finally the control without any application and without establishment of traps. The results
showed that the chemical treatment was the most effective for the control of F. occidentalis
since a percentage of less than 60% of infestation was obtained in comparison with the other
treatments, however the values obtained are not the most outstanding to have a efficient
control of thrips in calla lilies, since the percentage of infestation desired by the flower
company must be below 5%; Regarding the quality grades in the harvested flowers, the
chemical treatment and plant extracts obtained the highest number of stems in the Select 65
quality and finally it was determined that the chemical control was the most expensive
followed by plant and ethological extracts. It was observed that the chemical control
Acetamiprid: 240 g / kg + Emamectin benzoate 50 g / kg obtained a more efficient control of
the populations of F. Occidentalis with respect to the other treatments. The evaluated
treatments do not control F. occidentalis populations in an infestation percentage lower than
5% as required by the company, however it was observed that the chemical control with the
product Acetamiprid: 240 g / kg + Emamectin benzoate 50 g / kg ® obtained a more efficient
control of the F. Occidentalis populations and stems were harvested with Select 65 quality
compared to the other treatments. | es_CO |
