ABSTRACT
The oil palm is the oilseed with the highest oil production in the world. Colombia it is planted in 124 towns, positioning itself as the leading producer of palm oil in America. In the eastern part Colombia, the oil palm cultivation is being limited by the presence of lethal wilting, which is a disease that represents an important problem for this farming. The pathogen that produces this disease is a phytoplasma, which has not yet been identified due to the difficulty of its isolation in vitro. The adults of Haplaxius crudus Van Duzee (Hemiptera: Cixiidae) are the vector of this pathogen, which acquire phytoplasma, when they feed on the infected plant sap and transmit it when they fly to a healthy palm and feed on it. One of the most effective, economic and ecological measures to implement in integrated pest management plans is the use of less susceptible or resistant varieties. The tests carried out in this research focused on identifying if there is any resistance in oil palm varieties of interspecific hybrids (Elaeis oleifera x Elaeis guineensis) OxG and Elaeis guineensis. Survival trials were carried out on nursery oil palms (14 months), with three varieties of Elaeis guineensis, two interspecific hybrid varieties (Elaeis oleífera x Elaeis guineensis) OxG, and two Elaeis guineensis codes of productive stage palms (planting 2005) in order to compare the survival of Haplaxius crudus with palms at different stages. It was determined that interspecific hybrids (Elaeis oleífera x Elaeis guineensis) OxG in nursery stage have a greater varietal resistance with respect to the varieties of Elaeis guineensis, the evaluated variety belonging to the OXG hybrids, UNIPALMA indicated lower average survival, in relation to the other varieties evaluated. No resistance was observed in the oil palms evaluated in the field in the productive stage. It is concluded that survival trials should be carried out in the field with palms in the productive stage belonging to the varieties of interspecific hybrids (Elaeis oleífera x Elaeis guineensis) OxG, which, in the nursery stage, presented results with minor survival of Haplaxius crudus. | es_CO |
