Los incendios de cobertura vegetal representan una amenaza para los ecosistemas y las comunidades, especialmente en regiones propensas a su ocurrencia. Esta investigación busca zonificar el riesgo de incendios en Girardot, Cundinamarca, mediante el análisis de variables ambientales y territoriales. Se empleó una metodología basada en sistemas de información geográfica (SIG), considerando factores como la cobertura de la tierra, temperatura, precipitación, pendiente, accesibilidad y frecuencia histórica de incendios. Con estos datos, se generaron mapas de amenaza y vulnerabilidad para identificar zonas críticas. Los resultados indican que el 16,31% del territorio (2118,64 ha) presenta amenaza baja, el 50,65% (6580,29 ha) amenaza moderada y el 33,03% (4290,50 ha) amenaza alta, evidenciando la necesidad de medidas preventivas y de mitigación. Las áreas más vulnerables tienen vegetación densa, altas temperaturas y difícil acceso para la respuesta a emergencias. Estos hallazgos son clave para la planificación territorial y la gestión del riesgo, aportando información esencial para estrategias de prevención y respuesta. Se recomienda el manejo sostenible del territorio, el fortalecimiento institucional y la sensibilización comunitaria para reducir la vulnerabilidad ante incendios forestales. ABSTRACT: Vegetation fires represent a threat to ecosystems and communities, especially in regions prone to their occurrence. This research seeks to zone fire risk in Girardot, Cundinamarca, through the analysis of environmental and territorial variables. A methodology based on geographic information systems (GIS) was used, considering factors such as land cover, temperature, precipitation, slope, accessibility and historical fire frequency. These data were used to generate hazard and vulnerability maps to identify critical areas. The results indicate that 16.31% of the territory (2118.64 ha) is under low threat, 50.65% (6580.29 ha) is moderately threatened and 33.03% (4290.50 ha) is highly threatened, showing the need for preventive and mitigation measures. The most vulnerable areas have dense vegetation, high temperatures and difficult access for emergency response. These findings are key for territorial planning and risk management, providing essential information for prevention and response strategies. Sustainable land management, institutional strengthening and community awareness-raising are recommended to reduce vulnerability to forest fires.
