En Colombia el Instituto geográfico Agustín Codazzi se encarga de definir los sistemas oficiales de referencia geodésica, necesarios para proyectos, sociales, económicos o de cualquiera que requiera tener como base un mapa. Este documento se enfoca en la revisión de los orígenes cartesianos del territorio colombiano, los cuales depende de un Sistema geográfico de coordenadas, coordenadas cartesianas “Norte y Este”, como también coordenadas elipsoidales ”Latitud y Longitud con su respectiva altura sobre el nivel del mar, se realiza la verificación de las coordenadas mencionadas con el aplicativo MAGNA PRO, y los insumos análogos y digitales para la comparación y revisión en la cual se enfoca en ajustar y consolidar la información para observar las variaciones, ya sean por nombres, coordenadas duplicadas, errores de formulación o las diferencias si se encuentran en Datum Bogotá, por lo cual para homogenizar la información se realiza la trasformación a Datum Magna Sirgas, teniendo en cuenta los orígenes que trascurrido el tiempo en el archivo de gestión se traslada la información al archivo histórico. La organización de los orígenes es importante ya que de ello depende la calidad de la información que cumplan con los estándares de calidad para proyectos futuros.
