Estudio del Estilo Interpretativo de James Jamerson en Motown Records

Este documento está centrado en estudiar el estilo interpretativo del bajista James Jamerson, identificando aspectos en las maneras que ejecutaba las articulaciones. Se utilizan fragmentos de canciones en las que participó con el grupo The Funk Brothers en grabaciones de la discográfica Motown Records, y se lleva a cabo un reconocimiento de datos por medio de la herramienta de software Sonic Visualiser, evidenciando el espectro de la señal del bajo eléctrico. Se replica la metodología usada en el estudio, con los datos hallados sobre intensidad, frecuencia y tiempo; para esto, se cuenta con la participación de 7 bajistas de la Universidad de Cundinamarca, quienes realizan unas grabaciones de los mismos fragmentos y basados en parámetros establecidos, siguen una serie de indicaciones en las formas de ejecutarlas. Consecuentemente, se analizan los resultados obtenidos, evidenciando las variables que ocurren en la ejecución de las articulaciones en el bajo, por cada fragmento de canción. Por otra parte, se obtiene un análisis comparativo en el que se pueden reconocer aspectos sobre el estilo de cada bajista, frente a los de James Jamerson. This document is focused on studying the playing style of bassist James Jamerson, identifying aspects in the ways he played articulations. Fragments of songs in which they participated with the group The Funk Brothers in recordings of the Motown Records label are used, and a data recognition is carried out by means of the Sonic Visualiser software tool, evidencing the spectrum of the electric bass signal. The methodology used in the study is replicated, with the data found on intensity, frequency and time; For this, there is the participation of 7 bassists from the University of Cundinamarca, who make recordings of the same fragments and based on established parameters, follow a series of indications in the ways of executing them. Consequently, the results obtained are analyzed, evidencing the variables that occur in the execution of the articulations in the bass, for each song fragment. On the other hand, a comparative analysis is obtained in which aspects of the style of each bassist can be recognized, compared to those of James Jamerson.
