La presente investigación tiene como finalidad la formulación de un Proyecto Ambiental Escolar desde los objetivos de la sustentabilidad en la Institución Educativa José Celestino Mutis, para esto se propusieron cuatro categorías de análisis que orientaron la investigación: Ambiente, Sustententabilidad, Educación Ambiental y Proyecto Ambiental Escolar. Estas categorías plantean que desde la educación ambiental y mas específicamente el Proyecto Ambiental Escolar se tome el ambiente de manera amplia y compleja apuntando al mejoramiento de la relación entre hombre- naturaleza, la calidad de vida y al mismo tiempo brindando soluciones a las problemáticas ambientales identificadas en el contexto. En un primer momento se realizó una prueba diagnostico que identifico las problemáticas ambientales que se presentan en la Región del Sumapaz, el barrio “Los Comuneros” y la institución, esta prueba diagnóstico fue aplicada a una muestra significativa de estudiantes, docentes de la institución y personas de la comunidad. Teniendo identificadas las problemáticas más críticas (contaminación agua, manejo inadecuado de los residuos sólidos y falta de apropiación hacia el territorio) se construyeron tres líneas estratégicas. Asimismo se realizó la transversalización del Proyecto Ambiental Escolar con las áreas y los proyectos transversales de la institución, proponiendo un plan operativo con unas actividades que facilitan este proceso. Posteriormente se creó el Comité Ambiental Escolar que se encargó de fortalecer la Educación Ambiental implementando algunas de las actividades propuestas en el plan operativo, una de ellas fue el embellecimiento del Canal de la Ronda hídrica de la Quebrada Manila, donde se evidenciaron las tres líneas estratégicas. The present investigation has like objective the formulation of a School Environmental Project from the objectives of the sustainability in the Educational Institution Jose Celestino Mutis, for this four categories of analysis were proposed that guided the investigation: Environment, Sustainability, Environmental Education and School Environmental Project .
