La lactancia materna exclusiva, las prácticas y creencias culturales que influyen en su ejercicio, siendo el mejor alimento que una madre puede ofrecer a su hijo, resulta importante descubrir por qué no se logra adherencia de esta práctica de salud por los primeros 6 meses de vida, cuando no sólo su composición especial para alimentar específicamente al bebé, sino también por el vínculo afectivo que se establece entre el binomio durante el acto de amamantar son fundamentales. El trabajo surge del grupo semillero Cuidando a la mujer y se diseña con metodología cualitativa con la participación de 5 madres primerizas residentes en Girardot en el año 2019, se recolecta información a través de entrevistas semiestructuradas, su análisis y triangulación permiten descubrir cuáles fueron las prácticas y creencias culturales que favorecieron o limitaron el ejercicio de la lactancia materna exclusiva y proponer una estrategia que desde la enfermería contribuya a promover y mantener la lactancia materna exclusiva por los primeros seis meses para favorecer la salud materno infantil y aportar en el objetivo 3 de desarrollo sostenible "lograr una vida sana y promover el bienestar de todos a todas las edades". ABSTRACT: Exclusive breastfeeding, the cultural practices and beliefs that influence its exercise, being the best food that a mother can offer her child, it is important to discover why adherence to this health practice is not achieved for the first 6 months of life , when not only its special composition to specifically feed the baby, but also because of the affective bond that is established between the binomial during the act of breastfeeding are fundamental. The work arises from the seed group Caring for women and is designed with qualitative methodology with the participation of 5 new mothers residing in Girardot in 2019, information is collected through semi-structured interviews, its analysis and triangulation allow discovering what were the practices and cultural beliefs that favored or limited the exercise of exclusive breastfeeding and propose a strategy that from nursing contributes to promoting and maintaining exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months to promote maternal and child health and contribute to development objective 3 sustainable "to achieve a healthy life and promote the Weill-being of all at all ages".
