Estrés térmico, afectaciones asociadas a la productividad y eficiencia reproductiva en bovinos de leche

El estrés térmico, uno de los principales factores que afectan el desempeño productivo y reproductivo en bovinos de leche. Mecanismos como la termorregulación le permiten al animal mantener la homeotermia, ya que debido a la pérdida o aumento temperatura se pueden llegar a ver afectados ciertos procesos fisiológicos y metabólicos en el organismo del animal. En el presente trabajo se realizó una revisión de literatura para determinar la incidencia del estrés térmico y sus efectos en la producción y reproducción en bovinos de leche teniendo en cuenta variables como el Índice de temperatura y humedad (ITH), la temperatura corporal, la nutrición, el comportamiento estral entre otros. Identificando que los efectos debido al estrés térmico se acentúan mayormente en animales Bos Taurus, debido a su mayor tasa metabólica y menor termotolerancia medioambiental, sin embargo, los posibles cambios dependen del grado de adaptación de los animales y el manejo que se les brinde desde el punto de vista del bienestar animal; incluyendo alternativas viables que permitan mitigar el estrés térmico en ganadería de leche. Identifying that the effects due to thermal stress are mainly accentuated in Bos Taurus animals, due to their higher metabolic rate and lower environmental thermotolerance, however, the possible changes depend on the degree of adaptation of the animals and the management provided to them from the animal welfare point of view; including viable alternatives that allow mitigating thermal stress in dairy farming.
