Abstract

El sector turístico en Colombia ha tenido un impacto positivo a nivel socioeconómico, no solo en la generación de divisas, sino también en aspectos culturales, naturales y sociales. En el municipio de Girardot, el turismo es el sector económico más importante y recibe una atención especial por parte de la gestión pública debido a su capacidad para dinamizar la economía y contribuir a otros sectores. El municipio cuenta con una variedad de servicios turísticos, incluyendo agencias de viaje, centros vacacionales, restaurantes, museos, infraestructura para eventos y alojamientos en diferentes categorías. La infraestructura hotelera de Girardot es especialmente atractiva para los turistas, con aproximadamente 3500 camas en hoteles y centros vacacionales, incluyendo reconocidas cadenas hoteleras nacionales y establecimientos locales de alta calidad. Sin embargo, la emergencia sanitaria causada por la pandemia de COVID-19 ha afectado directamente la economía de todas las empresas turísticas en el municipio, así como la salud pública y la mentalidad de los viajeros. Ante este contexto, surge el interés por investigar la dinámica del sector turístico en Girardot durante la pandemia y aportar una perspectiva académica para contribuir a su reactivación. A pesar de que han pasado dos años desde el inicio de la pandemia y el virus aún persiste, las empresas turísticas deben permanecer alerta y adaptarse a los cambios y tendencias en la oferta y la demanda. Es innegable que la industria turística en el país ha experimentado transformaciones, con empresarios capacitados en nuevas tendencias internacionales y una oferta ajustada a la demanda de destinos seguros y sostenibles. Este estudio impactará en la reactivación del sector hotelero en Girardot, proporcionando información verídica sobre el impacto recibido durante la pandemia, los desafíos enfrentados y las posibles estrategias para reactivar actividades, mejorar la operación y aumentar la competitividad de los hoteles en Girardot. En resumen, el sector turístico en Girardot ha sido fundamental para la economía local, pero ha enfrentado dificultades debido a la pandemia de COVID-19. Este estudio académico busca proporcionar información valiosa que contribuya a la reactivación del sector hotelero en Girardot, ofreciendo estrategias y perspectivas para mejorar la operación y la competitividad en un contexto de cambios constantes en la demanda y las tendencias turísticas. In the municipality of Girardot, tourism is the most important economic sector and receives special attention from public management due to its ability to boost the economy and contribute to other sectors. The municipality has a variety of tourist services, including travel agencies, vacation centers, restaurants, museums, infrastructure for events, and accommodation in different categories. Girardot's hotel infrastructure is especially attractive to tourists, with approximately 3,500 beds in hotels and vacation centers, including well-known national hotel chains and high-quality local establishments. Given this context, interest arises in investigating the dynamics of the tourism sector in Girardot during the pandemic and providing an academic perspective to contribute to its reactivation. Despite the fact that two years have passed since the start of the pandemic and the virus is still persistent, tourism companies must remain vigilant and adapt to changes and trends in supply and demand. It is undeniable that the tourism industry in the country has undergone transformations, with businessmen trained in new international trends and an offer adjusted to the demand for safe and sustainable destinations. This study will impact the reactivation of the hotel sector in Girardot, providing true information on the impact received during the pandemic, the challenges faced, and possible strategies to reactivate activities, improve operations, and increase the competitiveness of hotels in Girardot. In short, the tourism sector in Girardot has been critical to the local economy, but has faced difficulties due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This academic study seeks to provide valuable information that contributes to the reactivation of the hotel sector in Girardot, offering strategies and perspectives to improve operation and competitiveness in a context of constant changes in demand and tourism trends.
