| dc.description.abstract | Introducción: las enfermedades crónicas nos transmisibles como la hipertensión arterial y la diabetes mellitus constituyen un problema d salud pública, afectando principalmente a los adultos mayores. Objetivo: Caracterizar los pacientes con enfermedades crónicas no transmisibles, en una institución privada de salud del municipio de Girardot. Método es un estudio cuantitativo se realizó la caracterización del perfil sociodemográfico, percepción carga-apoyo, el uso de tecnologías de la información y la comunicación de pacientes con hipertensión y diabetes mellitus tipo II, mediante la ficha de caracterización de la diada cuidador-persona con enfermedad crónica GCPC- UN-D1, versión 5.3 2018. Resultados. 7 personas participaron en la prueba piloto, la enfermedad crónica con mayor prevalencia fue la hipertensión arterial (57.1%), el más predominante fue el género femenino con un57.1%, la edad de la mayoría de los pacientes esta entre 61 a 80 años. Este tipo de apoyo con mayor nivel de satisfacción fue el familiar, es importante resaltar que más de la mitad de los pacientes refiere tener más de un cuidador. Las tecnologías de la información y comunicación más usadas fueron la televisión seguido de la radio y el 71.4% no utiliza las TICS para su autocuidado. Conclusiones. se evidencio que la mayoría de adultos mayores eran mujeres y presentaban hipertensión arterial. además del uso del internet y el computador es el más bajo considerando importante utilizar otras TICS cuando se realicen programas educativos dirigidos a esta población e incentivar el uso de las tecnologías para su autocuidado.
