ABSTRAC: In this research a maturation pond and a slow sand filter was implemented to treat domestic wastewater in February and March of 2016 in the el Jardín farm located in the La Salada Village Township Tocaima Cundinamarca where the efficiencies of these natural treatments for inactivation of total and fecal coliforms were evaluated, and the removal of physical and chemical parameters as BOD5, COD total solids, suspended solids, dissolved solids, total phosphours, and nitrogen organic towards a potential safe reuse in agricultural irrigation of treated water as a strategy to deal with the limited water supply in the zone. Upon completion of cycles set for each treatment unit, laboratory test were performed. The maturation pond operated with treatment capacity of 2 m3. hydraulic retention time of 18 days and percentages of removal of total and fecal coliform 50.2% and 55.7% respectively were obtained. The slow sand filter operated with a hydraulic load of 260 L/day, a filtration rate of 0.03 m/h and removal percentages of total and fecal coliforms were 99.6% and 100% respectively. It was concluded that the slow san filter showed higher removals for all parameters analyzed, the most efficient purification of wastewater from the farm natural treatment. Therefore the treated water was classified as suitable for unrestricted reuse in agricultural irrigation according to the regulations.en_EN
