ABSTACT: The present research work consists of carrying out a multi-temporal analysis to determine the relationship in desertification processes, using the normalized vegetation index (NDVI) and the temperature of the land surface (TLS) for the study area, which are It is located between the departments of Huila and Tolima, and is considered a desert ecosystem, affected by desertification processes caused mainly by the loss of vegetation cover in the area, among other variables. Based on this problem, the main objective of the research is to identify whether changes in plant cover and TLS are triggered in terms of area through a multi-temporal analysis between the years 2000 and 2022. The methodology used was based on obtaining and processing of Landsat 7 and Landsat 8 satellite images, the calculation of NDVI and TLS, and the analysis of variance calculated for these variables. Therefore, it was possible to determine that in terms of area there was a variation in each of the NDVI and TLS categories, although these changes were not statistically significant. In addition, the existence of a correlation between NDVI and TLS was verified, taking into account that for the Pearson correlation coefficient in most years the result was negatively strong.spa
