El canto en el metal sinfónico

Abstract

Resumen El Metal sinfónico es un subgénero que nace directamente tanto del Death Metal como el Gothic metal, subgéneros muy importantes del Metal. Una de las canciones pioneras de este género fue “Dies Irae” de la banda Believer, la cual salió en 1990 en su álbum Sanity Obscure, en el que se puede denotar un gran enfoque operístico dentro de la voz femenina y un gran despliegue sinfónico apoyado por orquesta, donde resaltan las cuerdas frotadas y el sentido épico de este género. Con el pasar de los años fueron usados por distintas bandas de gran renombre musical, tales como Epica, Therion y Nightwish. Este género fue sin duda bastante innovador, ya que una de las partes más importantes es la intervención de distintos elementos clásicos fusionados de manera fluida con elementos del Metal, tales como guturales, guitarras eléctricas, solos virtuosos, bajo y batería. Esta investigación se enfocará en el análisis de distintos Covers para identificar los elementos que lo componen, tanto de índole vocal como de índole musical. Dentro de esos análisis la finalidad es desglosar sus elementos para sondear sus distintas implicaciones enfocadas hacia la técnica vocal, recreando así, en un arreglo músico-vocal, una pieza de un género diferente, ahora enfocado hacia el Metal Sinfónico. Abstract The symphonic Metal is a sub-gender that is related with different genres like Death Metal and Gothic Metal, very important sub-genders in Metal music. One of the first songs of this gender was “Dies Irae” by the band Believer on 1990 in their album Sanity Obscure. In this album we can acknowledge a huge operatic approach on the female voice and in the symphonic side that is support it for an orchestra, that always stand out the strings and the epic sense of this genre. Over the years these elements were used by different bands well known on the music industry like Epica, Therion and Nightwish. This musical genre was without any doubt very innovative, taking on a count that one of the most important part was the different classic elements that were merged in a very fluid way with different elements from the Metal music, like gutturals, electric guitars, virtuous guitar solos, bass and drums. This investigation will focus on the analysis of different Covers to identify the elements that are part of it as vocals and music itself. In this analysis the main purpose is to identify its elements to use them in a new arrangement from a different genre, recreating now all the elements in this investigation on the symphonic metal.
