dc.description.abstract | Resumen
Abstract
Goats (Capra aegagrus hircus) are seasonal polyestrous animals, that is, sexual receptivity increases
in light (photoperiod), which greatly reduces obtaining high pregnancy rates throughout the year; For
this reason, there has been an increase in the use of reproductive biotechnologies such as estrus
synchronization, artificial insemination (AI) and cryopreservation of genetic material, together with
the knowledge of the reproductive physiology of these small ruminants, it has allowed obtaining a
greater productive efficiency within the pens. According to the different investigations, they show that
when performing artificial insemination with fresh semen, pregnancy is obtained (55.3-71.9%) and
with cryopreserved semen (60-77.1%), this varies according to the body, nutritional status, breed , the
form of semen collection and preservation of the genetic material, the latter has great relevance since
within the technique of (AI) and cryopreservation, the semen is not allowed to present more than 30%
of sperm anomalies, thus, this should be ruled out, because during the freezing process the
spermatozoa are exposed to osmotic and oxidative stress, lipid peroxidation and formation of ice
crystals, generating structural damage; therefore, the sum of these two decreases the percentage of
effectiveness in the pregnancy; On the other hand, it must be taken into account that the optimal
moment to perform the (AI) is within 12 hours once the heat is detected, since after that time the
release of (LH) is reduced, consequently the percentage is decreased. of effectiveness when
performing the (AI). | spa |
