| dc.description.abstract | RESUMEN : La labor de un zootecnista es muy importante a la hora de manejar los ejemplares equinos que pueden hacer de la equinoterapia una parte fundamental para terapias en personas con algún tipo de discapacidad. Esta técnica es conocida como una alternativa terapéutica en donde el caballo es utilizado como instrumento principal del proceso. Su fundamentación está basada en la utilización y aprovechamiento de sensaciones producidas en el paciente al contacto con los caballos, las cuales producen reacciones positivas a nivel sensorial y motor, así como en el ámbito psicológico social y afectivo. Ésta se realiza a través de la transmisión del calor corporal del caballo, del impulso rítmico y del patrón de locomoción tridimensional, el cual es equivalente al patrón fisiológico de la marcha humana. “La equinoterapia tiene varias técnicas, enfocadas a las necesidades del paciente. Es así como se puede encontrar la equinoterapia social, la terapéutica y la adaptada, el volteo terapéutico y la hipoterapia” (Gross, 2000, pág. 18)
La equinoterapia integra cuatro ámbitos profesionales: la psicología, la pedagogía, la medicina y el deporte. Para esta parte vemos que la base de la equinoterapia se centra en su gran mayoría y como muchos autores lo demuestran en hacer ver la medicina humana, pero no se enfoca que antes y detrás de todo esto existen profesionales capacitados (zootecnistas y médicos veterinarios) que deben velar por la salud, bienestar, nutrición y demás condiciones que se requieren para que un ejemplar equino preste dicho servicio a una comunidad especifica. La equinoterapia al utilizar el caballo como herramienta terapéutica, donde este debe cumplir con ciertas características, como son temperamento, entrenamiento, conformación morfológica y raza, involucra al profesional zootecnista, quien está capacitado para determinar el cumplimiento y condiciones importantes del equino para el logro de los resultados terapéuticos esperados en un proceso de rehabilitación.
