Abstract
In the Cundiboyacense highlands there are few poultry productions, because of climatic conditions and feed costs. However, broilers represent a production alternative being an additional income and a source of food for small producers. In addition, the region has an important quinoa production that generates by-products with potential for animal feed.
It seeks to generate food alternatives that favor small producers, for this reason it is necessary to investigate the response of broilers to the supply of these resources. So, the objective of this work was to evaluate the weight gain and feed conversion in broilers fed with the inclusion of 5%, 10% and 15% Quinoa bran and balanced feed.
A complete randomized design was developed with 4 treatments, 4 repetitions and 4 chickens per repetition, equal to 64 animals. This study was carried out in Guachetá Cundinamarca for 28 days with 21-day-old animals, the barn had feeders and drinkers and a bed of shavings. The model Y_ij = μ + T_j + E_ij was used for statistical analysis
The results showed significant differences for weight gain and feed conversion where the control treatment had 1394g of weight gain and feed conversion of 1.68, while the TT15 treatment had 1251g of weight gain and feed conversion of 1.87. From the economic point of view, producing a kilogram of weight in the control treatment costs $ 3,185.87 and in the TT15 treatment it costs $ 3,079.57. | es_CO |
