Abstract The high costs of feeding in the production of rabbits, leads to the search for new food alternatives for the preparation of balanced diets that improve productive yields at a lower cost. Agricultural industries produce high volumes of waste, which are considered sources of contamination of natural resources. Most of these residues have a high nutritional value that allows their use in animal feed such as palm kernel cake, which is a byproduct obtained from the extraction of African palm oil. Due to the opportunity that this raw material presents, the objective of this work is to evaluate the productive parameters of Californian Russian breed rabbits supplemented with palm kernel cake in the diet during the fattening stages. 20 selected Russian Californian rabbits with an average weight of 800 gr were used. The experimental period was from 35 days to 75 days of age. Four levels of palm kernel cake inclusion (T1: 0%, T2: 5%, T3: 10% and T4: 15%) were evaluated, meeting the nutritional requirements for the lift and fattening phases. The variables evaluated were live weight gain, food consumption, food conversion rate, carcass weight, carcass yield. No significant differences (P> 0.05) were found in the lift phase for the variables food consumption, daily weight gain and food conversion, with average values for the three treatments (1797 g, 37 g and 3.4) respectively. In the fattening phase for the weight gain variable it presented significant differences (P> 0.05), being higher for treatments T1, T2 and T3 with values of 37.81, 30.23 and 37.76 g, respectively, and lower for T4 with a value of 25.35 g, the food conversion index also presented significant differences (P> 0.05), being lower for treatments T1, T2 and T3 with values of 4.12, 4.81 and 4.04 and higher for T4 with a value of 6.19, according to other research the inclusion of 15% palm kernel cake negatively affects the digestibility coefficients of protein and energy, due to the lignocellulite complex that contains the crude fiber. The average slaughter weight was 2400 gr, carcass weight (T1 = 1302.2; T2 = 1242; T3 = 1328; and T4 = 1133) and the carcass yield (T1 = 52.56%; T2 = 52.68%; T3 = 52.89%; and T4 = 49.66) were not affected by the treatments, which is related to the increased use of nutrients by rabbits. It was found that treatments T1, T2 and T3 presented the best results, with significant differences (P <0.05) versus treatment T4, the cost / benefit ratio, for treatment 1 was 3.55, for T2 of 3.70, T3 of 3.76 and 3.13 for T4. The use of palm kernel cake at levels below 15% constitutes a viable alternative resource in the feeding of rabbits in the uprising phase, since when compared with the use of other non-alternative raw materials, good productive responses were obtained.es_CO
