ABSTRACT In Colombia, nearly 50,000 hectares are planted with hybrids Elaeis oleifera x Elaeis guineensis (OxG) of different origin and contrasting growth characteristics, which are not known the distance of sowing that allows them to express the maximum productive potential; For this reason, this study seeks to determine the optimum sowing density for hybrid cultivars E. oleifera x E. guineensis (OxG). Thus, four hybrids of Costa Rican origin (ASD) and Colombian origin (La Cabaña, Unípalma and Indupalma), were sown under four planting densities (143, 128, 116, 105 palms per hectare) in the Palmar Experimental Field of the Vizcaina (CEPV), which evaluated the yield expressed in production of fresh fruit bunches (RFF), number of bunches (NR), average bunch weight (PMR) and vegetative parameters such as leaf area, width and length of the leaflets and dry weight. The results were analyzed by descriptive statistics and analysis of variance test with averages comparisons, using the statistical software MiniTab version 2018. The analysis of variance showed significant statistical differences for the response parameter Number of bunches produced by palm (NR) in the Seed densities evaluated, for production of fresh fruit clusters expressed in Tons per hectare and average bunch weight (PMR) did not show statistical differences. The behavior for vegetative variables was similar in leaf dry weight, width and length of the petiole, in each density of sowing. The study showed the need to continue with the evaluations, since in time the maximum productive potential of each hybrid cultivar must be identified.es_CO
