Abstract

En la actualidad la mayoría de redes funcionan bajo la versión 4 de IP, desafortunadamente el número de direcciones entregadas en ésta no fue suficiente para suplir la demanda que trajo consigo el uso creciente de la tecnología, por lo tanto, se originó la necesidad de implementar una nueva versión. La versión 6 de IP evita problemas de crecimiento de la red ya que se puede adquirir un gran número de direcciones, además permite un óptimo rendimiento en los servicios ofrecidos, pues se tiene la capacidad para comunicarse con otras redes que no solo trabajen bajo IPv6, sino con IPv4, o con las dos de manera simultánea, por lo menos mientras se realiza el proceso de migración donde se debe asegurar la coexistencia de las dos versiones. En este proyecto se diseña un plan de transición del protocolo IPv4 a IPv6 en redes de datos teniendo en cuenta los lineamientos del Min TIC, éste permite a la entidad tener una mirada holística de la infraestructura de red interna y saber qué tan preparada se encuentra para realizar la migración, determinando el porcentaje de compatibilidad de hardware y software con el nuevo protocolo, conociendo cuáles son las necesidades y cambios importantes a realizar antes de empezar con el proceso y definir un previo plan de trabajo que permita organizar las actividades específicas, objetivos y responsables para cada una de ellas; de esta manera, la guía entregada por el Min TIC ayuda a definir el primer paso en el proceso de transición. Version 6 of IP prevents problems of network growth since it can acquire a large number of addresses, also allows an optimal performance in the services offered, because it has the ability to communicate with other networks that not only work under IPv6, but with IPv4, or with both simultaneously, at least while the migration process is carried out, where the coexistence of the two versions must be ensured. In this project a transition plan from IPv4 protocol to IPv6 is designed in data networks taking into account the guidelines of the Min TIC, this allows the entity to have a holistic view of the internal network infrastructure and know how prepared it is for perform the migration, determining the percentage of hardware and software compatibility with the new protocol, knowing what are the important needs and changes to be made before starting the process and defining a previous work plan that allows to organize the specific activities, objectives and responsible for each of them; In this way, the guide delivered by the Min TIC helps define the first step in the transition process.
