| dc.description.abstract | El yacón (Smallanthus sonchifolius Poep. & Endl) es una planta domesticada hace varios siglos por los pobladores de las culturas preincaicas. Hasta hace poco tiempo se cultivaba en jardines y huertos caseros para el autoconsumo y para el consumo ocasional. Este cultivo produce una raíz la cual es la parte de interés a cultivar en la mayoría de los casos, pero la otra parte de esta planta que ha comenzado a tomar fuerza para su aprovechamiento son las hojas, por sus propiedades , puede ayudar al consumidor a reducir sus niveles de glucosa en la sangre y disminuir peso entre otras características.
Para poder alcanzar mercados extranjeros y exclusivos a nivel nacional, se debe convencer al cliente que el producto que está adquiriendo cumple con ciertos estándares de calidad y producción limpia, para esto la certificación por parte del Instituto Colombiano Agropecuario (ICA) se hace necesaria ya que es la entidad del estado encargada de certificar los predios que se cumplan con los requisitos para poder asegurar una producción sostenible, sana y amigable con el ambiente. La empresa se encuentra explorando nuevos mercados en el exterior, uno de los obstáculos que se han presentado para poder formalizar las ventas de este producto ha sido la certificación de Buenas Prácticas Agrícolas (BPA), ya que los clientes en otras regiones del mundo buscan calidad en los productos que consumen, teniendo un parte de seguridad que aquel producto adquirido cuenta con los mínimos estándares de inocuidad y calidad, y no están generando un gran impacto al ambiente.
